Questions homeowners ask before an assessment

What is AeroCork?+

AeroCork is a cork-based coating applied in thin trowelled layers to suitable walls. It is vapour permeable and designed to improve surface comfort with little loss of room space.

How thick is the internal system?+

A common specification uses two cork coats totalling approximately 3–6mm, plus the compatible finish. The wall condition and selected system determine the final build-up.

Will cork cure damp or mould?+

No. It can help reduce cold-surface condensation risk by improving surface temperature, but leaks, penetrating damp, rising damp, ventilation and heating must be considered separately.

Can it be used on old solid walls?+

Its breathability can make it useful on suitable older solid-wall properties, but the existing background and moisture condition must be assessed first.

Does internal cork replace insulated plasterboard?+

Not in performance terms. It is a much thinner, less intrusive option with different strengths, particularly where losing room depth is undesirable.

Can you treat only one problem wall?+

Often, yes, if that is the appropriate scope after assessment. Junctions and neighbouring cold areas need consideration so the treatment does not simply move the problem.

Can you insulate bay windows?+

A trowelled system can follow narrow reveals, curves and awkward bay details. We assess every surface before deciding where the system should continue.

What is external SprayCork?+

A thin, flexible and breathable cork-based exterior finish for suitable prepared render, brick or masonry. It is not described as equivalent to thick external wall insulation.
